My nephew Gio came into the shop to build a wall-mounted bottle opener for his dad, made out of scraps we had lying around. Good beginner project if you’ve got a kid who wants to make something real.
Cutting and sanding
Scrap stock gets cut to size, then sanded smooth before any finish goes on.
Stain and logo
The wood gets stained, then a logo decal goes on before the hardware is installed.
Hardware and reveal
The bottle opener hardware gets mounted last, then the finished piece gets its reveal.

A good one for getting a kid into the shop — simple steps, real tools, a finished thing to give as a gift at the end.
